The bucket elevator specializes in handling irregular shaped items, as well as particulate or granular products such as grain or seed. They can be installed as a stand-alone unit, or as a part of a total solution, linking other bulk material handling machines.
The bucket elevator is well suited for the transport of a broad range of agricultural products such as:
- Seeds (e.g. poppy seeds, sunflower seeds)

- Coffee
Seeds with a high content of oil such as rapeseed, poppy seed and sunflower seeds might cause a thin layer of fatty residue on equipment and can affect the seed quality. Apollo pendulum bucket elevators can optionally be equipment with in-line washing and drying modules to ensure optimal product quality. The Buckets can easily be removed for cleaning or replacing.

Bodies like the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) continuously sharpen food safety regulations across various sectors. FDA regulations and the European CE1935/2007 do stipulate that any migration of material which is in direct contact with food should be reduced to minimum levels. This kind of legislation is gradually seen across the agricultural sector and often equipment has to comply with these standards.
